Our church is wheel-chair-accessible. Sunday Services: Sunday worship services are held at 10:00 A.M. Our PastorRev. Sara Lamar-Sterling is a native of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York. She also holds an M.A. in music history from CUNY-Graduate School and University Center, and a B.A. in Music, with minors in French and Drama, from Hofstra University.Before her appointment to First & Summerfield United Methodist Church in July 2007, Rev. Lamar-Sterling served as associate pastor at Park Avenue United Methodist Church (NYC) and Nichols UMC in Trumbull, Connecticut. She serves on the boards of Interfaith Cooperative Ministries, Greater New Haven, and “Real Life. Real Talk,” a program that equips parents to speak with their children and teens in age-appropriate, medically accurate ways about human sexuality. Within the New York Annual Conference of the UMC, she is on the board of Methodists in New Directions, a grassroots organization that works for the full inclusion of glbtq people in the UMC and the Board of Church and Society. She is chairperson of the Annual Conference’s Personnel Committee and an ex-officio member of the Commission on Higher Education and Campus Ministry. |
Snow PolicySunday worship, as well as special worship services (e.g., Christmas Eve, Watch Night, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday) will be held, as scheduled, regardless of weather or road conditions, or other emergency, unless New Haven institutes a parking ban for the time of the service.If New Haven has instituted a parking ban, then all church activities, including worship services, for that period will be cancelled. If there is no parking ban, church activities other than worship will be held at the discretion of the appropriate committee/team/workgroup chair.
