John C. Hantz

Worshipful Brother John C. (Jack) Hantz was born April 29, 1939 at Belle Fourche, South Dakota. He was Initiated 5-04-1972, Passed 9-02-1972 and Raised a Master Mason on 02 -16-1973 in Faith Lodge No. 168 in Faith, South Dakota. He petitioned and was elected as a Plural Member in Lemmon Lodge No.151 on 01-19-1977 where he served as Junior Warden in 1976; Senior Warden in 1977 and Worshipful Master in 1978. W Brother Hantz Demitted from Faith Lodge No. 168 on 05-21-1981 and he petitioned and was elected as a plural member in Custer City Lodge No. 66 on 02-17-2004.
W Brother Hantz was Appointed and served as Grand Sword Bearer for the Grand Lodge in 2006-2007. W Brother Hantz served on the Necrology Committee 2006-2007 and on the Membership committee 2008-2009.
W Brother Hantz is a member of the York Rite Bodies; Scottish Rite- Deadwood and Naja Shrine Temple. In the York Rite he served as High Priest in 1979 in Royal Arch No. 44 and Commander of the Knights Templar # 25, 2005 to the present. In the Grand York Rite, Royal Arch, He is Grand Captain 2008-2009; Grand Historian in the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons and Grand Captain General in the Grand Commandery of the Knights Templar in South Dakota. He is a 32? Scottish Rite in the Deadwood Valley. He is a member of the South Dakota Lodge of Research; National Sojourners, Scottish Rite KCCH; Naja Shrine Legion of Honor where he served as Adjutant 2004-2005; West river Shrine Club and Shrine Color Guard.

Charles H. Gibson

W Brother Charles H. (Chuck) Gilson was born February 12, 1953 in Parsons, Labette County, Kansas. W Brother Gilson was Initiated on 01-02-1986; Passed on 06-19-1986 and Raised a Master Mason on 07-12-1986 in Saint Mary’s Lodge No. 109 Saint Mary’s GA. W Brother Gilson petitioned and was elected to Tin City Lodge No. 112 in Hill City, SD on 04-07-1993 and he Demitted from Lodge No. 112 on 04-03-1996. He Petitioned and was elected to St John’s Lodge No. 1 on 03-05-1996 where he served as Senior Warden in 2001-2002 and Worshipful Master in 2002-2003. He served as Junior Grand Steward in 2004-2005. on 02-18-2006 W Brother Gilson petitioned and was elected to Custer City Lodge No. 66 as a Plural member. W Brother Gilson is a Life Member in St John’s Lodge No. 1 and is a past Treasurer also in that Lodge. He is currently a Plural member and active in Masonic activities.
W Brother Gilson became a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Jacksonville. Orient of Florida and is currently a Life Member in the Valley of Yankton, Orient of South Dakota where he participates in the 31st degree. W Brother Gilson is a member of the York Rite Bodies in Rapid City, and participates in York Rite functions at Vermillion, South Dakota. He is a member of Naja Shrine Temple of Deadwood, and Black Hills Chapter No. 30, Masonic Motorcycle Club International in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Charles H. Walker

Charles H. Walker was born on 09-13-1946 in Pierre, SD. W Brother Walker was Initiated an Entered Apprentice on 02-26-1968; Passed to a Fellow Craft on 04-22-1968 and raised a master Mason on 05-20-1968 all in Pierre Lodge No. 27 of which he is a Life Member. He served that Lodge as a Junior Warden in 1972 & 2005-2006; Senior Warden in 1973 & 2006-2007 and was Worshipful Master in 1974 & 2007-2008. W Brother Walker is and has been an active Mason in the Blue Lodge. He has served the Grand Lodge as a Custodian from 1996-1999 and from 2000-2003; was Grand Orator 1997-1998; Grand Chaplain 2006-2007 and is currently serving as District Master in District No. 13. W Brother Walker is a member of the Commission on Masonic Education.
W Brother Walker is a Life member of the York Rite Bodies and has served as Most Excellent High Priest, Most Illustrious Grand Master of Cryptic Masons and Past Grand Commander of Knights Templar in south Dakota. He received the Knight Templar Cross of Honor. W Brother Walker is a member of Yelduz Shrine Temple in Aberdeen and a Life Member in the Scottish Rite, Yankton Valley.
W Brother Walker’s additional memberships include, Past Associate Guardian, Job’s Daughters, Bethel No. 10, Senior DeMolay Ashley Chapter, Gordian Knot, Past Puissant Sovereign of Saint Simmons Conclave order of Red Cross of Constantine, Past Prior of Priory No. 59 Knights York Cross of Honor, Past V. Eminent Preceptor Gloria Dei, No. LXIX Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priesthood and is a member of Black Hills York Rite College. Past Patron of Chapter No. 39 Order of Eastern Star. In 2008 W Brother Walker received the Legion of Honor from the Supreme Council Order of DeMolay.

Leslie M. Spies, P.G.M.

Most Worshipful Brother Leslie M. Spies was born January 16, 1934, in Pierce County, Osmond, Nebraska. Most Worshipful Brother Spies was raised a Master Mason on March 16, 1971, in Jeptha Lodge No. 121 of Hudson, South Dakota. He served as Worshipful Master of the Lodge on several occasions, in 1976, 1981, 1993-1994 and 1995-1996. He also served as Secretary for two years and is currently serving in that capacity again. He is a Life Member of Jeptha Lodge No. 121.
Most Worshipful Brother Spies served as District Master in 1982-83-84-85 and also in 1998-1999, 1999-2000. Most Worshipful Brother Spies was appointed Grand Chaplain in 1985-1986 and was elected Junior Grand Warden in 1986-1987. He progressed in the Grand Lodge line and was Grand Master of Masons in 1989-1990. Most Worshipful Brother Spies has served seven years as the Grand Treasurer-Secretary of the Grand Lodge of South Dakota and is currently serving in that position.
Most Worshipful Brother Spies is active in the York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite of Yankton, where he is presently a 33o Scottish Rite Mason, Order of the Eastern Star and a Noble of the El Riad Shrine Temple. He received the appointment of Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of Ireland in 2008. He has been nominated for the office of Grand Treasurer-Secretary by Jeptha Lodge No. 121 in Hudson, South Dakota.

Casey Derflinger

Five-Year Term

Worshipful Brother Casey Derflinger was born on December 13, 1959 in West Plains Mo. W brother Derflinger was Initiated an Entered Apprentice on 03-29-1993, passed o the Degree of Fellowcraft on 04-26-1993 and raised a Master Mason on 05-26-1993 all in Tin City Lodge No. 112 in Hill City, SD. On May 20, 1997 He Affiliated with Harmony Lodge No. 110 as a Plural Member and is a Life Member in that Lodge. In Harmony Lodge No. 110 he served as Junior Warden in 1997- 1998, Senior Warden in 1998-1999 and was Worshipful Master 1999-2000. In the year 2002 he was elected Secretary of Harmony Lodge No. 110 and served in that office until this current year.
His Grand Lodge offices are as follows, He served as Grand Pursuivant in 2004-2005, was appointed to the Finance Committee in 2007. W Brother Derflinger is an active member of the Deadwood Valley Scottish Rite as a 32? KCCH and is Director of the 5th Degree and is also active in various other degrees in the Scottish Rite. W Brother Derflinger is an active member of the Naja Shrine in Deadwood. Currently he is the Oriental Guide on the Divan, active in the Fall River Shrine Patrol and in the ritualistic unit. He also is an active supporter of Job’s Daughter’s and served as Director of Fraternal Relations for Bethel No. 19 in 2004-2005.
W Brother Casey Derflinger is nominated by Harmony Lodge No. 110 A.F.& A.M. of Hot Springs, SD For a five year term on the board of Grand Trustees. He has served two full years as a Trustee of the Grand Lodge of South Dakota.

George E. Bauder

Five-Year Term

George E. Bauder was born on October 15, 1938 at Huron, South Dakota. Brother Bauder was raised a Master Mason on February 24, 1960 in Huron Lodge No. 26 in Huron, South Dakota. He served as junior Warden of Huron Lodge No. 26 in 1966. He petitioned and was elected to Rapid City Lodge No. 25 on October 4, 2005 and took a Demit from Huron Lodge No. 26 on November 14, 2005. Brother Bauder has served as the Secretary of Rapid City No. 25 since 2005 and is currently serving in that capacity. He petitioned and was elected a Dual member in Mt Rushmore Lodge No. 220 on April 12, 2007 and is currently the Junior Warden in Mt. Rushmore No. 220. Brother Bauder has served as Chairman on the Appeals & Grievance Committee in 2008-2009 and is on the Grand Officers Addresses & Reports Committee 2008-2009.
Brother George E. Bauder has served as Worthy Patron in Mizpah Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Is an active member in the York Rite Bodies where has held offices in Chapter RAM; Past High Priest and current Grand Captain of the Host 2008-2009; Council of Cryptic Masons as Illustrious Master and Grand Principal Conductor of the Work 2008-2009; Knights Templar as Past Commander and Grand Senior Warden 2008-2009; Member of the Scottish Rite; Black Hills Scottish Rite; Naja Shrine; South Dakota Lodge of Masonic Research where he is the Junior Deacon, 2008-2009.
Brother Bauder has served as DeMolay Chapter Dad in Ashley Chapter in Pierre and Associate Guardian of Job’s Daughters in Huron Chapter and has received the Knights Templar Cross of Honor, Red Cross of Constantine and the DeMolay Cross of Honor. Brother George E. Bauder was nominated for a five year term on the Jurisprudence Committee by Rapid City Lodge No. 25 in Rapid City.
